Ask the person, not the profile.
A page answers how somebody actually thinks about the work, in their own words, with the sentence each answer rests on. You can ask one right now without making anything.
- You are reading a document written to impress you, by somebody who has read a thousand of them. It tells you almost nothing.
- A page lets you ask the question you actually have and get an answer built from things that person wrote down before you existed to them.
- Asking is free, needs no page of your own, and shows you the sources.
What to ask a page
Not the interview questions. The ones you would ask a mutual friend about them.
- How do you handle it when a project is late
- You learn more from how somebody has written about this than from any answer they give you live, because they wrote it when they were not being assessed.
- What do you refuse to work on
- A clear refusal tells you what somebody is, faster than a list of what they have done.
- What do you think we are getting wrong
- If their page has written about your problem, you will find out in one question whether they have thought about it or read about it.
- What did you change your mind about
- Changing a view here keeps the old one behind it with its date. You can see somebody's thinking move, which a CV is structurally incapable of showing you.
Why the answers are worth more than a profile
- It shows its sources
- Under every answer are the person's own sentences it used, with dates. You are reading their words, assembled by an AI, not an AI's impression of them.
- It says when it does not know
- A page that has not been given an answer says so, rather than producing something plausible. Silence is information: it tells you what that person has not thought about yet.
- It was not written for you
- Most of what a page knows was written before this role existed, which is exactly what makes it evidence rather than a pitch.
- It cannot commit to anything
- It is an AI answering from what a person shared, it says so every time, and nothing it says binds them. Treat it as a very good reference call, not an agreement.
What you should not do with it
Do not treat a page's silence on a topic as a mark against somebody. Most people have written down a fraction of what they know, and what is missing usually means nobody has asked yet.
And a page is one person's account of themselves. It is better evidence than a CV because it shows its sources and it was not written for you, but it is not a check and it is not a reference.
You cannot see what somebody chose not to share with you, by design, and you cannot see how many other people asked them. That is not a gap; it is the product.
You probably want one too
Candidates research you at least as hard as you research them, and increasingly they do it by asking an assistant. A page of your own answers what you are like to work for, in your words, instead of leaving that answer to be assembled from the internet.
